Advancing Compassionate End-of-Life Care.
Because no one should die on the streets.

Imaging taking your last breath alone on the cold streets–without comfort, without dignity, without a place to call home. Thousands of people face this heartbreaking reality every year. Dying on the streets should never be anyone's final chapter because every life deserves compassion at the end.
In 2015, with the help of many wonderful people, I established The INN Between, a 16-bed "hospice for the homeless" in an old convent in Salt Lake City (see the blog). It was a pilot project social model hospice (a community-supported home with round-the-clock caregivers dedicated to closing the social gap in hospice care delivery). Our beds quickly filled, and in 2018, we raised funds to purchase a former nursing facility, creating a permanent home with 25 licensed Assisted Living Facility Type II beds and 25 social model beds. The program continues to expand to meet community need.

I created Homeless at the End to share knowledge and inspire people to take action. The name honors the PBS Utah original film Homeless at the End, produced by Sally Shaum and Nancy Green. The film centers on The INN Between's first year in operation, putting a human face on the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness as they confront their mortality.

Please join us as we shine a light on the forgotten, share powerful stories, and build real solutions. Together, we can bring compassion and hospice care to those who need it most.
